About Carly
How I work
Therapy is always a collaborative process, and I will meet you right where you are. Here is the approach that I often use as a guide for our work:
-
I start off with teaching about the nervous system (Polyvagal theory) and we create a Personal Profile Map so we can understand your unique system. This gives us a foundation for working with the body and finding safety/regulation.
-
From there, we learn about the adaptive nature of emotions, how to ride the wave of emotions that come up and link them with sensations in the body.
-
Depending on your goals, we might incorporate EMDR, which will help bring down anxiety in the body and give the brain a chance to re-process any traumatic events or relationships. This helps to release any emotions that might be “stuck” in the body (generally linked to what feels triggering in your life right now).
-
These aspects blend into a beautiful system for diving deep into the experience of the here-and-now and evolve into what one of my clients calls a “radical approach to life".
